On August 28, 2013, we hosted the first Artscape Street Party at Artscape Wychwood Barns. The theme was circus: think aerialists hanging from the ceiling, all kinds of buskers, food trucks, and free snow cones and popcorn! More than 800 people showed up for this family-friendly event on the last Wednesday evening of the summer.
We were very lucky to have some exceptionally talented photographers and bloggers in attendance. Check out some amazing photos courtesy of Alejandro Freeland and Village Living, and detailed recaps from T.O. See and T.O. Do and The Roaming Life.
The Street Party was a very family-friendly event and there were many circus themed acts happening throughout the evening to keep kids entertained. Inside the barns (the “Big Top”) there were acrobatic acts high above our heads, and outside there were jugglers, stilt walkers and in the sand pit there was an impressive fire dancing routine. Children were mesmerized by all the performances, which was no small feat considering how much free sugar was available! — T.O. See and T.O. Do
Proceeds from the Street Party series directly supported Artscape’s activities. We’re a not-for-profit development organization that makes space for creativity at buildings like Artscape Wychwood Barns, Artscape Gibraltar Point, Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park and many more.
